What is Lit Local?Lit Local is more than just a book event—it's a movement. We’re here to connect readers with local indie authors and create a space where stories are shared, celebrated, and discovered. Our events are designed to bring together people who love books and those who create them, building a community that thrives on creativity, diversity, and the love of literature.
Our Mission: Our mission is simple but powerful: To build a bigger, more inclusive book community in Mobile.We believe that Mobile has a vibrant literary scene just waiting to be uncovered, and that by connecting indie authors with readers in our city, we can help grow that scene even further. Whether you’re an avid reader or an author looking for a way to share your work, Lit Local is here to make those connections happen.
Who We Are: We’re both lifelong book lovers who believe in the power of stories to bring people together. Madison is a passionate advocate for local authors and a huge believer in the importance of supporting independent voices. Maddy, equally passionate about indie literature, is always seeking new ways to amplify the voices of those who may not have the chance to be heard on a larger scale. Together, we make Lit Local a place where authors and readers can find a true sense of belonging and community.
Why Mobile? We chose Mobile, AL as the home for Lit Local because we know that our city has so much to offer. From the historic streets to the rich culture, Mobile is full of untold stories. We believe it’s the perfect place to foster a community that celebrates books, authors, and the art of storytelling. Plus, there’s something about the charm of the Gulf Coast that makes it the ideal setting for connecting over a good book.
What We Do: Through Lit Local, we host a variety of book events in Mobile that connect readers with indie authors. From author meet-and-greets to book signings, readings, and more, we create spaces where authors can share their work and readers can discover new voices.
